So here we are, folks. Three years after starting this account, and it's certainly been about a year since I've even touched a roll of duct tape. My crochet hooks and giant box of yarn is now the muse I listen to, and the one I happen to resonate strongest with. Perhaps another time, I will be drawn back to duct tape art, but I find that I have a hard time sticking to one thing for a long time. I did duct tape art for the better part of 5 years, and I'm coming up on my 2nd crochet anniversary, so who knows how long I will continue to see this as my passion.
Among crocheting, writing has also become very important to me. I hope to soon share my time equally with my hooks and pens, so you guys may even soon see some prose sneaking into my deviations.
I think a lot of my duct tape art was based on money. "You could sell that", "You could make so much money", "How unique! People would pay a lot for that!" was stuff I heard so often, that it became the sole reason I was making things. I do not care about a lot of the things I made, but I made them because either I knew they would sell, or because someone commissioned me, and I didn't have it in me to say "No, that's not my style, and beyond my talent, and I won't do it". That latter part is happening to me a little bit nowadays, but I think I am keeping myself in check enough to say "No, no I don't have any idea how to make that, so you're going to have to find someone else." I still hear a lot of the "Sell that!" and "Think about the money!" And even if I am thinking about the money, I am not selling out. I am only making things I WANT to make, and if it makes me a couple bucks, then I guess it's just a bonus.
So all in all, I wanted to just say that my duct tape works are on hold for now, possibly for a long while. I hope you all enjoy my crochet work, baking arts, any future writings that may pop up here, and above all else, I hope that as I go through my artistic phases from month to month, and year to year, that you all will continue to watch me, and encourage me to help me grow with whatever I happen to be infatuated with at the time. I intend to do a lot, and to make a lot, and to have this DeviantArt gallery brimming with my ideas, passion and self-expression; nothing more, and nothing less.
